OMG! Jake did it again... since Jeff Searles' wedding and our move to AK, Jake's body hasn't been any color but white... until yesterday. And man-oh-man, we have it on record! And so does ADN, and the Nome Nugget, and the BSSD SBT, and lots of other people.
Jake, our friend Jeff Erickson, his son Austen, and his friend Gerald (both Janelle's students) came to our kitchen to get decked out in Green and Orange lettering. For those of you who don't know, the H-O-L-T shameless, shirtless design painted on their chests was for our friend Rick Holt, who was a rookie musher in the Iditarod this year. Rick came into Unalakleet tired from the trail, and got a proper UNK welcome-home greeting. He made it all the way to Nome--finishing the longest sled-dog race in the world, and making us all very proud. Jake was happy to paint his chest and freeze his tail off for this momentous occasion.
